A world-famous anchorage

We continue our series of articles dedicated to the most beautiful beaches of the French Riviera. In our previous papers, we made a stop in front of the bay of the ants, in front of the David Niven villa, next to Paloma beach and in the Anse des fosses  This time, we take you a little further west, in a must-see anchorage area of the French Riviera: the Villefranche-sur-Mer harbour.

"The sight of a beautiful sea is comforting."

Bordered to the west by the Cap de Nice and to the east by the Cap Ferrat, the Villefranche harbour is open to the south and forms a 2.5 km long cove. This land barrier protects this little corner of paradise from the sea. Indeed, the turquoise water of this magnificent bay is known to be very calm. This characteristic attracts many tourist boats and even liners who come to admire the medieval old town, the picturesque relief of its green mountains and its beach surrounded by a wall of bougainvillea. The tranquility of its waters is even known by the fire-fighting services. That is why it is not uncommon to see water bombers filling their tanks in the middle of the boats.
